#2: The Fastest Way To Move Forward In Life
Find the right people to get you on the path to where you want to be
The Ambitious Bois Newsletter

Hey there! Welcome to the second of our weekly email newsletters! We initially wanted to give this newsletter various names related to improving your life, things along the lines of Mucho Bueno, Improve Your Life (quite to the point, isn’t it?), and Better Everyday. But now we’re more so documenting things about what we’re focusing on ourselves, so we gave it the nickname for ourselves after all.
Juan’s Content: The fastest way to move forward in life 🚀
Most of us want to do something with our lives. We understand that to get from point A to point B, there is a path we must carve for ourselves. But say you have no idea how to get started. Or you don’t know the most efficient path for your given objective. You ideally want to get there as quickly as possible since life is short. And who likes to be patient?
The fastest way to move forward in life is to listen to people who can give you advice that can get you there faster. This is so you don’t suffer and waste all that time, make a mistake, and backstep to learn the lesson to move forward. The faster you can avoid those lessons and keep moving forward, the faster you move. But the problem is, we don’t know who to trust.
Here are seven levels on how to weigh advice:
Has been there. Took someone else there similar to you, multiple times. If they have only taken themselves there, they might not be very good teachers.
Someone who took someone just like you there.
Someone who took someone else there.
Someone who has been there.
Someone who knows me and knows someone who went where you want to go.
People that know you but don’t have what you want.
Comments on social media. Strangers that don’t know you.
“Once you realize what it takes to go from good to great, you realize you can only be great at a few things and you are forced to ignore the rest.”
“Sadness comes from a lack of options, which is why it feels like hopelessness. Anxiety comes from many options without priorities, which is why it feels like paralysis. Solve sadness with knowledge & anxiety with a decision.”
Michael’s Content: Better Sleep
So I listened to one of the new All The Hacks podcast episodes. And it was talking with Mollie Eastman, discussing ways to improve sleep.
This is something that I’ve been struggling with, so I’ll basically bullet point the suggestions:
No screentime the last hour before bed (I’m really bad at this)
Cold sleep environment (60-67 degrees Fahrenheit)
No food intake 3-4 hours before sleeping
Bright days, dark nights (our days are typically too dark, and our nights too bright)
Consistent sleep schedule (another thing I’m really bad at)
Be outside within 60 minutes of waking (ideally if it’s light out, but if you’re in the Netherlands in winter that’s not going to be possible)
These were the main points, they gave some other suggestions, and some of the workarounds if things in your life make these factors impossible.
I’m going to be working on fitting these into my schedule for the next few weeks. Going to be using our wake up accountability group to get to a more consistent schedule.
Accountability Groups
Right now we’re back to just having a small exercise accountability group, with just Juan, Seba and I. And then trying to figure out how to best advertise to get new people involved in our 4 groups we’re going to have starting February.
Let us know with any ideas you have for this, things you want to try or things you want to be held accountable to, then we can try to work that in. The current ideas are again:
Exercise Accountability Group
Wakeup Accountability Group
Digital Minimalism Accountability Group
3 Daily Tasks Accountability Group
Again let us know if you want to join any of these, or are interested in more information :)
Thanks for opening this up. I’m enjoying writing these out, and now I want to get into writing something daily, so I’m going to try to add in Journaling more as a habit. But writing for people to see is a bit more unusual for me.
Feel free to give feedback if you have any!
Cheers 😄
Sincerely,
Juan Scanlan &
